Single Dwelling (New)

The future of residential architecture is being shaped by innovative, energy-efficient homes that prioritise sustainability without compromising on comfort or design. The Single Dwelling New category, sponsored by Billi, recognises the best in sustainable single-residential design and construction.

This category is open to Class 1a buildings, showcasing newly built homes that demonstrate leadership in sustainability, from material selection to energy efficiency and water conservation. Whether a compact eco-home or a larger, architecturally striking residence, these projects set new benchmarks for sustainable living, integrating smart technologies, passive design principles, and renewable energy solutions.

Designing a sustainable new home requires a holistic approach, considering everything from orientation and thermal performance to responsible sourcing of materials and efficient water management. The best projects in this category create homes that are not only comfortable and functional but also environmentally responsible, reducing operational energy use while enhancing the well-being of occupants.

A standout entry in this category will demonstrate how sustainability is embedded in every aspect of the home, from efficient building envelope design to the integration of high-performance systems that reduce energy and water consumption. Billi, as the category sponsor, champions innovation in water efficiency, supporting projects that incorporate smart water management solutions, such as energy-efficient boiling, chilled, and filtered water systems.

Thoughtful water conservation strategies are integral to sustainable home design, making them a key component of the most forward-thinking residential projects.

The Sustainability Awards 2025 will showcase homes that define the next generation of sustainable living. As demand for low-impact, energy-efficient housing continues to grow, this category recognises the architects and designers who are leading the way in creating homes that are not just built for today, but designed for a more sustainable future.

Entries open on May 7 for the 2025 program, click here for more information.
